TWIN FALLS COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
(Adopted June 4th, 2021)
Twin Falls County is embarking on an 18-24 month process to rewrite the County’s Comprehensive Plan (last updated in 2008) and update Title 8 & 10, the County’s zoning regulations, to better align with the vision and values established by the community through a public planning process.
The County’s current Comprehensive Plan, last updated in 2008, underwent a thorough evaluation in early 2019 to determine appropriate next steps in the update or rewrite process. It was through this evaluation that the County realized a comprehensive rewrite of the plan was necessary – one that focused on citizen input and visioning as a key part of the process.
The rewrite of the Comprehensive Plan will focus on issues and opportunities present in Twin Falls County today, the future vision residents have for the county as a whole as well as the communities of Buhl, Filer, Kimberly and Murtaugh. The rewrite will provide clear and predictable guidance to developers, stakeholders and residents alike on how the vision for the County’s future can be implemented in a collaborative and respectful manner, and will seek to establish policies, priorities and strategies for meaningful and coordination moving forward.
The plan will focus on agricultural preservation, opportunities for economic development opportunities and diversification, facilitating quality growth that respects community character, expanding and preserving recreational amenities and overall quality of life for residents and businesses alike.
The update of Title 8 & 10, the County’s zoning regulations, will begin immediately following the Comprehensive Plan rewrite to ensure the goals and priorities expressed in the plan are accurately and expeditiously reflected in the code. There will be multiple opportunities over the ensuing 18-months for citizens to provide input on both the plan and the code, as they are interrelated elements equally important to future outcomes in Twin Falls County.
